History

First Federal Savings & Loan Association was federally chartered January of 1935. First Federal grew in the tradition of the building and loan association and served the savings and loan needs of our area for 60 years.

On June 10, 1995, First Federal Savings & Loan changed its savings and loan charter to a state commercial bank charter and our new name became FIRST SOUTHERN BANK. Today, First Southern Bank provides full service banking to individuals, families and businesses through our five offices in Lauderdale and Colbert counties of Alabama.

In March of 2008, our Main Office location was moved from our 35+ year home at 102 S. Court Street to our new location at 301 S. Court Street.

Community Involvement

FSB Employees are actively involved in many civic organizations/events:

* Transaction Account Guarantee Program
First Southern Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under the program all noninterest-bearing
transaction accounts with the exception of the two account types noted below are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire
amount in the account through December 31, 2010. Our Southern Advantage Checking and Business Checking with Interest products
with a balance in excess of $2,500 are ineligible for the Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Coverage under the Transaction
Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
